The Philco Model 70 cathedral radio was produced in 1931–1932. This is a period when Philco was establishing itself as the largest radio manufacturer in the United States.
This example came to me having undergone a partial restoration. The capacitors had already been replaced, and a period-correct cloth power cord had been installed to maintain authenticity.
To complete the restoration, I replaced all of the original resistors. Nearly a century old, every one of them had drifted high in value, which is typical of resistors from the 1920s and early 1930s.
With the resistors replaced and prior work verified, the chassis is now electrically stable, safe, and performing as designed. The cabinet and original styling remain intact, preserving the charm and character of this classic Philco cathedral radio.
The cabinet is in extremely good condition. I did have to re-glue thge top support in the back as it had come unglued.
