I restored this Zenith 5R312 Radio electronically and did a cabinet restoration. This is a nice Bakelite Radio and doesn’t have any cabinet damage like a lot of Bakelite radios.
The original dial lens was very discolored and cloudy. I wasn’t sure if I could find a replacement, but I was able to find a replacement dial lens that really dressed up this radio.
This is an AC/DC radio that does not have a power transformer. I replaced the power cord on this radio. The old power cord plug was not polarized and the hot side of the AC power can end up in the wrong place.
