Zenith 5-S-119 Table Radio (1935)

When I received this Zenith 5-S-119 table radio was only partially working and had the wrong knobs. I left the cabinet alone. The radio was electronically restored. I replaced all the electrolytic and wax capacitors. I found several out of spec resistors and replaced them. The speaker was in excellent condition with no tears or holes in the cone.

The most challenging part of this radio restoration was the bad tone control. The tone control was made of a thin conductive paint that had deteriorated. A conductive glue was applied to the deteriorated areas of the tone control to repair the control. I sourced replacement reproduction knobs.

Once it was restored, this Zenith 5-S-119 table radio turned out quite nice. Vintage Zenith radios are highly prized because of their quality.
