Philco 41-221 AC-DC Radio

This radio came to me for restoration missing two tubes, a broken dial pointer, missing dial glass, and a poor finish on the cabinet. The radio was electrically restored, missing and broken parts were found, and the cabinet refinished. It ended up looking very nice and plays exceptionaly well for a radio this old. This radiio has two bands. Standard broadcast and shortwave.

  1. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Dan and Vintage Tube Electronics on this project. My wife and I found this old radio in our soon-to-be new old home, originally owned by my Great-Grandfather. We fell in love with the radio and just knew it would need some love at some point. That’s when I hit the internet running. Let me just say that Dan represents all that is good in internet land. I somehow stumbled upon his business page and quickly realized I could trust him with this restoration. Correspondence was fast, courteous, and professional. Dan kept me informed during every step of the process. This is how it’s supposed to be done. The final result is a thing of beauty. Don’t take my word for it, though. I didn’t tell my wife about the restoration. I wanted it to be a surprise. When I unboxed the restored radio she was all smiles and completely blown away. Now that’s a situation where everyone wins. We’ll forever cherish our little 1941 Philco; thanks to Dan and Vintage Tube Electronics! I highly recommend their work to anyone. -Josh

  2. Thank you for the positive comments. It was a fun radio to restore and turned out very nice for a radio that is almost 90 years old.

  3. I’m looking for the plastic that goes around front of my radio, I don’t know if it’s plastic or celluloid. Mine has melted and breaking off. Thank you
